L'idea di realizzare questo sito nasce dalla mia
passione per le carte da gioco e i solitari da
giocare al computer. Utilizzando abitualmente il
sistema operativo Linux (Mint e KDE) ho notato che i
decks di carte disponibili sono molto datati e
primitivi realizzati quando le prestazioni dei pc e
le risoluzioni degli schermi erano molto inferiori a
quelle attuali. Quindi mi sono prefisso di
utilizzare decks esistenti adattati per essere
utilizzati in questi solitari da materiale trovato
in rete liberamente utilizzabile e nuovi decks di mia
creazione o da me
scansionati.
Formati e dimensioni dei decks -

Ovviamente non sono stati mai standardizzati, ce ne
sono alcuni alti e stretti e altri piuttosto larghi. A
mio parere le dimensioni di mm 60 x 90 e il rapporto
3:2 consentono la migliore fruibilità in qualunque
gioco, tuttavia quelle da poker sono più larghe
mentre quelle Lombarde e Venete sono alte e strette
con un rapporto di 1.8:1 fino a quasi 2:1. Questo
formato non va bene: in quelle Venete i semi come i
bastoni sono tagliati all'estremità in quanto non
entrano in quelle dimensioni, mentre in quelle
Lombarde i semi delle figure
sono troppo vicini alle figure stesse. Chissà perche
hanno questo formato? Credo che siano più adatte a
giochi da osteria dove si batte velocemente sul
tavolo (il cosiddetto "busso") e a raccogliere
meglio le carte (per esempio a giocando scopa). Le
carte alte e strette sono meno adatte a giocare i
solitari.
Obviously
they have never been standardized, there are some high and narrow and
some quite large. In my opinion the dimensions of 60 x 90 mm and the
ratio 3: 2 allow the best usability in any game, however those poker
are wider while those Lombarde and Veneto are tall and narrow with a
ratio of 1.8: 1 up to almost 2: 1. This format is not good: in those
Veneto the suites as the sticks are cut at the end because they do not
enter in those dimensions, while in the Lombard ones the suites of the
figures are too close to the figures themselves. Who knows why they
have this format? I think they are more suitable for games from a
tavern where you quickly hit the table (the so-called "busso") and to
collect the cards better (for example, playing broom). Tall and narrow
cards are less suitable for solitaire play.

indici - The indices
I
mazzi di carte (specificamente quelli da poker e
bridge) devono avere quattro indici agli angoli per
essere visti spillando le carte da destri e mancini
oppure stendendole sul tavolo. Alcuni mazzi hanno
inspiegabilmente solo due indici e quelli cosiddetti
"regionali" in genere non li hanno. Fanno
eccezione le carte Lombarde-Ticinesi in uso nella
Svizzera Italiana che invece hanno gli indici (gli
Svizzeri hanno la mania di numerare anche i
paracarri...).
The indices
The
decks of cards (specifically those of poker and bridge) must have four
indices at the corners to be seen by tapping the cards from right and
left handed or spreading them on the table. Some decks have
inexplicably only two indices and the so-called "regional" ones do not
usually have them. Exceptions are the Lombard-Ticinese cards used in
Italian-speaking Switzerland, which instead have index (the Swiss have
the craze of even numbering the bollards ...).

La
logica e la razionalizzazione vorrebbe che tutti i
semi di tipo francese (cuori, picche. quadri e
fiori) si possano inscrivere in un quadrato avente
le stesse dimensioni o almeno in un rettangolo con
la stessa altezza. Ovviamente non è così: le
dimensioni dei semi sono le più disparate e senza
nessuna logica.
La
disposizione è anch'essa molto spesso irrazionale:
semi troppo vicini al bordo o troppo al centro e
vicini tra loro. In quelle a semi Spagnoli denari e
coppe assumono dimensioni inutilmente variabili dal
4 al 7 quando potrebbero essere tutte uguali.
Logic
and rationalization would like all the suites of the French type
(hearts, spades, diamonds and club) to be inscribed in a square having
the same dimensions or at least in a rectangle with the same height.
Obviously this is not the case: the dimensions of the suites are the
most disparate and without any logic.
The
arrangement is also very often irrational: suites too close to the edge
or too central and close to each other. In those with Spanish suites,
deniers and cups take on unnecessarily variable sizes from 4 to 7 when
they could all be the same.

E'
evidente che le carte ruotate dovrebbero avere lo
stesso aspetto: per questo motivo le figure sono
divise a metà in senso orizzontale o diagonale ad
eccezione di quelle che mantengono la figura intera
(tipicamente di derivazione Spagnola, come le
Napoletane o simili). Le carte pari
dovrebbero essere sempre reversibili, mentre quelle
dispari no, ad eccezione dei semi di quadri che sono
reversibili. Sembrerebbe una cosa elementare disporre
i semi in questo modo ma evidentemente non è così....

is evident that the rotated cards should look the same: for this reason
the figures are divided in half horizontally or diagonally except for
those that maintain the whole figure (typically of Spanish derivation,
like the Neapolitan or similar). The even cards should always be
reversible, while the odd ones should not, with the exception of the
diamonds suite that are reversible. It would seem like an elementary
thing to arrange the suites in this way, but obviously it is not so ...

farne a meno senza problemi.

considerando due jolly si avrebbe un mazzo con 50 carte

- can be grouped into groups of three, four or six
- the ten has graphics problems because the two-digit indexes are narrower
- any game does not require the use of the ten, you could do without it without problems.
- considering two jokers you would have one deck with 50 cards or two decks with
100 cards.
